What are the differences in care?
Facials contain mainly water and lipids. Their association gives an emulsion. The proportion of water and lipids in each emulsion depends on the texture of the product.
Among the creams, we distinguish :
- oil-in-water emulsions. The basis of these emulsions is water, in which oil droplets are suspended. Not very greasy, these textures are said to be fluid or light. They form the basis of most day creams.
- water-in-oil emulsions. Essentially composed of oil, these formulas are greasier. They are the basis of "rich", "very moisturizing", "coldcream", and many night creams.
Milks are oil-in-water emulsions in which the proportion of water is very high.
Gels are made from water and gelling substances. Their conservation, more difficult, requires more preservatives.
Lotions or tonics combine a water base with active ingredients.
